چکیده

Summary Background & aims Breastfeeding is the gold standard infant feeding. Data on macronutrients in relation to longitudinal body composition and appetite are very scarce. The aim of this study was investigate human milk at 1 3 months association with during early life healthy, term-born infants. We hypothesized that infants receiving higher caloric would have more fat mass satiate earlier. Methods In 133 exclusively breastfed (Sophia Pluto Cohort), samples were analyzed for (fat, protein, carbohydrate) by MIRIS Human Milk Analyzer, assessment Baby Eating Behavior Questionnaires. Fat (FM) fat-free (FFM) were measured PEA POD DXA, abdominal FM ultrasound. Results showed large differences macronutrients, particularly content. Protein energy content decreased significantly from months. carbohydrate tended decrease (p = 0.066 0.081). (g/100 ml) (kcal/100 ml) associated FM% 6 (β 0.387 0.040, resp.) gain 0.088 0.009, resp.), but not 2 years. Carbohydrate associate visceral years 0.290, p = 0.06). Infants earlier satiated finished feeding faster. Conclusions Our data show decreasing protein age months, while decrease. Macronutrient composition, content, differed considerably between mothers. indicating critical window adiposity programming. As breastfeeding satiated, self-regulatory mechanism might prevent intake excessive macronutrients. Online trial registry NTR, NL7833.

Associations between Maternal Body Composition and Appetite Hormones and Macronutrients in Human Milk

Human milk (HM) appetite hormones and macronutrients may mediate satiety in breastfed infants. This study investigated associations between maternal adiposity and concentrations of HM leptin, adiponectin, protein and lactose, and whether these concentrations and the relationship between body mass index and percentage fat mass (%FM) in a breastfeeding population change over the first year of lac...

Associations between human milk oligosaccharides and infant body composition in the first 6 mo of life.

BACKGROUND Evidence linking breastfeeding to reduced risk of developing childhood obesity is inconclusive, yet previous studies have not considered variation in specific components of breast milk that may affect early development. OBJECTIVE We examined whether differences in the composition of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) correlate with infant growth and body composition at 1 and 6 mo o...

LEVELS AND PREDICTORS OF MACRONUTRIENTS IN MATURE HUMAN MILK

Background & Aims: Breastfeeding is an important public health strategy due to its benefits in reducing the morbidity and mortality of infants and helping to control health care costs. Breastfeeding with various macronutrients and micronutrients plays its nutritional and biological roles in optimal growth and development of the infant. Based on the importance of breastfeeding, this study aimed...

Infant Body Composition and Other Early Life Determinants of Obesity and Adult Diseases

Introduction: Chronic pain and pain sensitivity are complex traits with a variety of potential determinants. Although not yet fully elucidated, pain sensitivity and the risk for chronic pain are thought to be partly genetic. In our study, we attempt to further elucidate the genetic predisposition of pain sensitivity. Methods: In a total number of 3,795 participants from the Rotterdam study (a l...
